Distribution head valve bridging for Vacuum Drum Rotary Filters

Distribution head valve bridging (also known as a main valve, diverter valve, or air-liquid distribution disc) of a rotary vacuum drum filter is a core component that enables zoned vacuum/blow switching and air-liquid separation & discharge for the drum. It directly determines the filtration efficiency and operational stability of the filter.
The drum surface of a vacuum drum filter is divided into multiple working chamber, including Regeneration chamber, cake detachment chamber, washing filtrate discharge chamber, dewatering, and filtrate discharge chamber. The core function of the distribution head valve bridging assembly is to precisely distribute vacuum or compressed air to these different zones.

  • Yinuo offers customized designs tailored to clients’ specific requirements, ensuring that the distribution head valve achieve optimal compatibility with vacuum drum filters of various specifications and types, thus meeting the diverse production needs of different customers.

Distribution head

Rational Structural Design

A flat-contact distribution valve with segments aligned to drum zones divides the circumference into vacuum and blind zones. Positioned above filter cloth detachment and below slurry level, blind zones block air ingress, preventing vacuum loss and keeping slurry adhered to the drum mesh.

High-Quality Materials

The valve body is constructed from stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The rotating and stationary discs utilize wear-resistant materials paired with stainless steel for friction surfaces, minimizing wear during long-term operation and significantly extending the service life of the diverter valve.

Superior Sealing Performance

Contact surface pressure is regulated by external end springs, maintaining optimal sealing between wear and bridge plates. This reduces air leakage and enhances vacuum drum filter efficiency. Additionally, Yinuo uses advanced testing equipment for rigorous sealing inspections, ensuring consistent product quality.

primary core function

The drum surface of a RVDF is divided into multiple working zones, including filtration, washing, dewatering, and discharge. The core role of the distribution head valve is to precisely distribute vacuum or compressed air to these different zones, with specific functions as follows:

  • Zoned Air Supply/Vacuum Extraction: Via the internal annular air channels of the Distribution head valve, external vacuum systems and compressed air systems are connected to different compartments of the drum. As the drum rotates, each compartment sequentially enters its corresponding working zone (e.g., vacuum extraction in the filtration zone, compressed air injection in the discharge zone).
  • air-Liquid Separation and Discharge: In the filtration zone, the distribution head valve separates the “filtrate + vacuum” drawn into the compartments: filtrate is directed to storage tanks through liquid channels, while vacuum is recirculated to the vacuum pump. This prevents air-liquid mixing from reducing pump efficiency or contaminating the filtrate.
  • Sealing and Leak Prevention: The valve assembly forms a tight seal with the drum’s end face (typically fitted with wear-resistant sealing rings), preventing cross-flow of vacuum/air between zones. This ensures stable pressure in each working zone—for instance, insufficient vacuum in the filtration zone would increase cake moisture content.
